Every AFL player tests negative to COVID-19, so far

Every test for COVID-19 conducted by the AFL so far in preparation for resuming the season has returned a negative result, giving the AFL a level of confidence it can navigate the season without interruption.

All players and officials having contact with players had tests this week allowing the AFL to take stock of the situation across the league, with AFL boss Gillon McLachlan confirming on Fox Footy on Saturday that all 1260 tests had been negative.

He said that the competition still believed it could continue if a player or official tested positive but said it would depend on the context of the diagnosis and club doctors would play a significant role in determining the impact.

“It will depend on the circumstances, when and where they are in the week and what happens,” McLachlan said.
