AFL clubs to resume training on Monday

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan has confirmed that clubs will begin training on Monday as preparations for the 2020 season restart ramp up.

With speculation being strong that teams would need approximately a three-week “mini pre-season” before resuming the home-and-away season, a June 11 restart date now seems more likely than June 18, although McLachlan wouldn’t confirm when round two would occur while speaking to 3AW on Friday morning.

Clubs will be permitted to partake in full contact training twice a week from May 25 after coronavirus testing has finished, likely giving teams four to six sessions in the lead-up to the season restart.
