Roosters-Rabbitohs unlikely to relaunch new season as NRL finalises draw

The NRL will on Friday announce the first two rounds of the resumed competition, having withheld the eagerly anticipated schedule from its broadcast partners on Thursday.

The NRL was on Thursday night scrambling to finalise rounds three and four of the competition, set to restart on May 28, with the announcement of a new broadcast deal also delayed until early next week as the code finalises negotiations with Foxtel.

Fox Sports and Nine, the publisher of this masthead, were both expecting to receive the new-look draw on Thursday night, however the NRL informed both television networks it had postponed until the following day.

The much-hyped Roosters-Rabbitohs clash, which will pin Latrell Mitchell up against his old club, is now unlikely to be the match that will relaunch the season on Thursday, May 28, potentially played on Friday night out at Bankwest Stadium, if not later in the year.
