Melbourne Storm forced to move interstate after Victorian government deny training request

The Storm are set to decamp to NSW for the foreseeable future after the Victorian state government denied their request to train in Melbourne.

Craig Bellamy’s side had been waiting for the green light to train at their AAMI Park base and travel interstate on match days.

But that request has been denied by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, leaving the club little choice but to travel over the NSW border and base themselves in either Albury or Mulwala. The club will need approval from the NSW government to do so.

Players and staff will then be able to drive just over three hours from the border back to Melbourne on weekends to spend time with their families.

More to come.
