It was arguably the most entertaining match in AFLW history. Alas, no one was there to see it.

Fremantle came from 17 points behind midway through the third quarter to overrun the Western Bulldogs at Whitten Oval on Sunday, maintaining the Dockers’ unbeaten start to the season and inflicting a fifth straight defeat on the Dogs.

Leaving the empty stands to one side, this was a glimpse of the future of women’s footy. Sunday’s game was free-flowing, replete with skill and momentum swings. Emerging Dogs stars Eleanor Brown and Isabel Huntington oozed class in defence as the inexperienced and depleted home side took it right up to the conference B leaders.
