Fremantle Dockers player tested for coronavirus

Fremantle have confirmed a Dockers player was sent for precautionary coronavirus testing after experiencing flu-like symptoms having been in contact with a friend who had been in China earlier this year.

As revealed by The Age on Monday night, a Fremantle player whose identity has not yet been revealed was sent for tests amid concerns they may have been exposed to Covid-19.

“The Fremantle Football Club advises that a player has been sent for precautionary Covid-19 testing after having contact with a friend who had been in China earlier this year,” the Dockers said in a statement late on Monday night AEDT.

“The player has advised the club that after his friend returned from China the friend underwent a 14-day isolation period, as recommended by the Australian government for all Australians returning from China.

“The friend reported that they had suffered no flu-like symptoms during or after the isolation period.
