Senator Keneally said Senator McKenzie’s statement raised questions about who altered a spreadsheet with the list of projects to be funded, which was sent to Sport Australia twice on April 11. The earlier version, sent before 9am, contained a different list of projects to those in the final email, sent at about 12.43pm.
“Bridget McKenzie has come out … and made clear she made no changes after the 4th of April when she signed a brief allocating the grants,” Senator Keneally said. “Well if Bridget McKenzie didn’t make changes after the 4th of April, who did? Was it the PM? Was it his office?”
Asked about the sports grants scheme during a press conference, Mr Morrison said he was more focused on addressing the coronavirus crisis.
He has consistently denied his office determined which grants received funding, saying his staffers only made representations about projects that were worth considering.
