“It’ll be great to be back in the judging seat for Australia’s Got Talent although what’s even greater is the show only needing my judging skills for when all the early rubbish is swept away and only the best of the best remain,” Sandilands said on KIIS FM’S Kyle and Jackie O this morning. “I can’t wait.”
Sandilands confirmed the news with recent Channel 7 re-recruit Sonia Kruger on the phone.
“It is a big deal,” Kruger said.
Sandilands then clarified that his appearance on the show will only be a brief one.
“It is just a one off,” he said. “It is not a big deal. Good luck Sonia, I hope it goes well because I know it can be tedious when some 80-year-old grandma comes out and puts a lamp shade on their head and goes, ‘I am a lamp shade’, and then you have to sit there for three minutes.”
No stranger to reality TV talent judging, Sandilands was a judge on the reality show from 2010 to 2013.
Back in 2010, Sandilands was joined on the judging panel alongside Bryan McFadden and Dannii Minogue.
He was also part of the X-Factor panel in 2010, after being dropped from Australian Idol following public backlash over his 2009 lie detector stunt.
This time around, Kyle will be joining Sonia Kruger, Olympia Valance, Shane Jacobson, and Manu Feildel.
Ricki-Lee is also returning this season as host of the show.
The new format of the show, Australia’s Got Talent: Challengers & Champions will see some of the best entertainers in Australia going head to head with memorable Got Talent acts from around the globe.
