Ben Buckley re-elected as North Melbourne Kangaroos president


North Melbourne chairman Ben Buckley was re-elected alongside fellow directors Glenn Archer and Sonja Hood at the club’s annual general meeting on Wednesday night with Paul Crapper unsuccessful in his bid to join the Kangaroos’ board.

Buckley, who oversaw a dramatic overhaul of the club’s football department and administration in 2019 with the chief executive, senior coach, list manager and football manager all replaced, said the vote showed the members supported the shift.

The Kangaroos face a tough 2020 with CEO Ben Armafio, coach Rhyce Shaw, list manager Glenn Luff and football manager Brady Rawlings all in their first year in the job however their rookie coach says they are aiming to make finals.

Buckley, who played 74 games with the Kangaroos, has been club president since taking over from James Brayshaw in 2017 while Archer and Hood filled casual positions until their election.

Archer is a favourite son having won a Norm Smith medal and two premierships in his 311 games. He was named Shinboner of the Century, is in the club’s Team of the Century and was a three-time All-Australian. He is a director of Kode Entertainment group.
