Melbourne Demons tight-lipped on captaincy call

“We are going to be in a position in a couple of days to share what that [decision] is,” Goodwin said.

“It is something that we want to talk through with the playing group, we want to talk through with the leadership of the club and come to a decision in the next few days.”

Goodwin said Gawn remained on track for round one while midfielder Angus Brayshaw would play in next Friday afternoon’s intraclub match against North Melbourne. He said key defender Steven May would also be available for the Demons’ second Marsh series match in Tasmania against Hawthorn.

Bayley Fritsch will also be back in action after withdrawing late due to a knee infection that required him to be treated with antibiotics.
