An autopsy determined that Dr. Harwick, 38, suffered “manual strangulation” before being flung from a third-floor balcony last Saturday, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said.
She was discovered unresponsive on the ground below the balcony around 1.16am Saturday in Hollywood Hills after police were dispatched for reports of a woman screaming.
Dr. Harwick’s primary cause of death was from the blunt-force injuries to her head and torso that she suffered in the fall, the coroner said.
The prominent therapist’s ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse, is accused of breaking into her Hollywood Hills apartment and killing her after a fight.
Pursehouse, 41, was charged with murder and first-degree residential burglary with the special circumstance allegation of lying in wait. The charges make him eligible for the death penalty.
Dr. Harwick — also the ex-fiancee of The Price Is Right host Drew Carey — had previously filed a restraining order against Pursehouse, which had expired.

“He was a stalker,” Dr Harwick’s friend Rudy Torres told KABC, the NY Post reported. “When they broke up, he didn’t take it well at all. He’d do stupid stuff and say stupid stuff. You’d tell him, ‘Move on, dude, leave her alone.’ And he wouldn’t.”
Pursehouse is being held without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 4.
