Collingwood recruit Brianna Davey uncertain to face her former side Carlton

“I’m walking today a lot better than I was earlier in the week, so that’s all I can sort of give you at the moment.”

Davey, who suffered an ACL tear in 2018, said it felt like she’d been kicked in the shin, an injury the former Matildas goalkeeper has suffered previously in her opposite leg.

However, replays showed there was minimal contact to her leg.

“It’s not a break or a fracture or anything like that, which I was pretty stoked about,” she said.

“It’s more soft-tissue damage in the shin so it’s a very odd sort of injury and not common so it’s a bit touch and go at the moment.

“It’s more movement wise, I think it might have been when I was trying to get up at the footy something happened in there so it was a bit of an odd one.

“The fact I’ve done it twice is a bit weird but these things tend to happen to me, but I’m used to it in a way.

“It’s just a little bit of rest and a little bit of treatment around the area and potentially some things we can do come game day to keep it a bit more secure, whether that’s protecting it or making sure it’s got a bit of protection around the area.”

Davey, speaking at the Magpies Nest cafe in Bourke St where she helped serve food to the homeless, said she hoped to get up to play against her former side on Sunday.

“I would love to, obviously against the old mob,” she said.

“It’s always good fun, there’s always a little bit of banter on the field so I’d love to get up but we’ll see how we go.

“The final assessment will be tomorrow and we should know a bit more by then.

“I played my first three years of footy there and really made a lot of great friendships at the club.

“It will be a bit weird running out against them but at the same time I’m really looking forward to it.”

Both clubs won their season-opening matches ahead of Sunday’s clash at Ikon Park, with Carlton defeating the Tigers and Collingwood beating the Eagles.
