Steve, who tied the knot with Mishel Karen in last night’s episode of the Channel 9 reality show, previously dated MasterChef’s Diana Chan for five years.
“I met Diana in Melbourne CBD one evening, and we just hit it off,” Steve told TV Week. “Our relationship took off from there.”

When Steve was diagnosed with testicular cancer eight years ago, Diana, who is 20 years younger than him, supported him as he battled the disease.
“If it wasn’t for her, then I probably wouldn’t be here today,” Steve told TV Week.
“I was just overcome with shock about being diagnosed with testicular cancer. She was there. She supported me at every oncology appointment that I had, the operation, all this sort of stuff.”
But as the relationship progressed, Steve said “we started to grow apart a little bit”, and the couple split up before Diana appeared on and won MasterChef in 2017.
“It did break my heart,” he said. “It took me a fair while to get over it.”
It’s also been revealed that MAFS isn’t the first reality show Steve has been on in an attempt to find love since his relationship with Diana ended.
In 2018 the barber shop owner appeared on Channel 7’s First Dates and was matched with a woman of a similar age named Fiona.
Despite her desire to meet up for a second date, Steve rejected Fiona at the end of the evening, saying: “For me, I had a great time, but I didn’t feel the spark. I feel the conversation went really well, but there was no fun element.”
In last night’s MAFS episode, things got off to a good start between Steve and Mishel but quickly soured when he confessed to her children that he had cheated on a partner in the past.
Mishel, who has been cheated on by several men in the past, freaked out and momentarily fled the wedding before Steve tracked her down and vowed he would never cheat again.
