How Eddie Betts lost the joy of footy after infamous pre-season camp

For many supporters, Eddie Betts embodies the joy of footy, but last year the exhilarating goalkicker fell out of love with the game and found trying to fix it like digging himself deeper and deeper into a hole.

Now, having returned from Adelaide to his original club Carlton during last year’s trade period, Betts admits the Crows’ infamous pre-season camp was a major reason his enjoyment of the game fell away.

The camp, which was held less than six months after the Crows lost the 2017 grand final to Richmond, was a disaster for the Crows who have failed to make the finals since.

Some things that happened there are still so sensitive Betts will not speak publicly about what took place preferring to look forward to 2020 where he hopes to recapture his form wearing a Carlton jumper.
