The supermarket giant announced Woolworths Italian Style Basil Pesto was being recalled due to the possible presence of peanuts.
The product is sold in stores across Australia and is subject to a nationwide recall.
“Consumers should not open or consume this product. Customers should dispose of or return the product to the place of purchase for a full cash refund,” Woolworths said in a statement.
“We apologise for any inconvenience.”
Customers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance have been warned not to consume this product.
Any consumers concerned about their health have been told to seek medical advise.
This comes after Coles also issued a recall for pesto on January 31 for their Coles Italia Pesto al Basilico 290gm with a best before date of 28/8/2021.
It was also recalled over fears it may contain peanuts.
Today the supermarket chain issued a second batch recall for the same product with a best before date of 24/09/2021.
“Customers can return the product to any Coles Supermarket for a full refund. Coles Online customers can receive a full refund or credit by contacting Coles Online Customer Care on 1800 455 400,” Coles said in a statement.
“We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience.”
