Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were called to the facility on Anzac Parade, Little Bay, yesterday morning, after a 73-year-old woman reported she’d been tied to a chair on Monday, while being showered.
The woman told police a plastic bag was used to tie her left leg to a chair, causing severe bruising and pain.
A 67-year-old woman – who is an assistant in nursing at the home – was arrested about 4pm yesterday and was taken to Maroubra Police Station, where she was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The woman has been granted conditional bail to appear in Waverley Local Court on Thursday, January 9 next year.
An apprehended violence order has also been taken out on the injured woman’s behalf; the assistant has been stood down by her employer.
