Brisbane Roar missed a golden opportunity to cement a spot in the top four of the W-League when they had most of the chances but could not convert against Melbourne Victory in a game that ended scoreless on match day six of the season.
The game was played unusually early at 10.30am on Saturday at Epping Stadium as it had been cancelled the previous evening due to hot conditions.
Aside from a couple of chances – when Darien Jenkins made space well but shot tamely in the first half and Natasha Dowie did something similar at the other end in the dying moments – Victory created little and look a shadow of the side that won the Premiership last season.
Roar and Matildas midfielder Tameka Yallop was denied by Victory keeper Casey Dumont, who bravely dived at her feet in the 27th minute. Rylee Braiden, Brisbane’s American striker, then shot over after good approach work by Hayley Raso.
