Cummings hopes to cap group 1 tally with Best of Days

“Tally and Best Of Days have been there for a couple of weeks and been working on the deep sand tracks, so I expect them to be very strong.”

Cummings and his team have had the strongest year since he joined Godolphin, winning the Golden Slipper, Golden Rose and Stradbroke among their nine group 1 successes, Three of those have come from Avilius in the Ranvet Stakes, Tancred Stakes and George Main Stakes.

“It has been a very rewarding year for us and it would be a nice way to finish it off with a group 1 in a fourth state,” Cummings said. “We targeted these horses at this race and they are both very fit and well.

“I would love to get a black-type winner in Perth because it is so tough to travel horses over there and win. I would see it as a real feather in our cap as a team.

“We are confident the way Best Of Days has been going that he will cope with the extra trip and Tally will be much more at home over 1800m than the 1400m.”
