Baker stable cooking up recipe for success at Gosford

The in-form Bjorn Baker stable will look to dominate a rare Wednesday meeting at Gosford with great chances throughout the card.

The stable will look to kick things off on a positive note with four-year-old gelding Kiss The Bride, who went straight to the 1400m last start at Kembla Grange, sitting just off the pace and hitting the line strongly late. He will take plenty of improvement from that first-up effort. Brandon Lerena retains the ride and, from barrier 4, he will find the front and give them something to chase stepping up to the 1600m.

Baker and Lerena will combine again in race 3 with the lightly raced Matowatakpe. The son of Dream Ahead returned over 1000m at Wyong last start, showing very nice speed from the gates to lead. He was run down late and will take a lot of improvement from that performance. The step up to 1100m is ideal. He will find the front from barrier 2 and get the race run to suit.

The most interesting runner for the stable goes around in the last race of the day. Three-year-old colt Edison, the son of Fastnet Rock, contested some high-quality races last preparation, including the Up And Coming Stakes over 1300m at Randwick.
