Essendon has sold their eSports team the “Bombers” after two years.
The club said it had sold the licence for the team, which competed in the Oceanic Pro League, effective immediately.
The licence has been taken over by Pentanet.GG, the eSports arm of internet provider Pentanet. eSports sees professional video game players compete for prizemoney in games like League of Legends, Fortnite and FIFA.
“The club has made the decision to divest its commitment to eSports and re-prioritise to focus on alternate key strategic objectives that continue to be in line with the club’s 2021 vision,” a club statement read.
