Cricket Australia firm on Smith ban

Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings says his organisation won’t back down on a ban against Women’s Big Bash player Emily Smith.

Smith’s 12-month ban, of which nine months are suspended, has become one of the talking points of the summer following a social media post that showed her team’s batting line up.

The Australian Cricketers’ Association are still pursuing their next move, in the hope of setting up a meeting with Cricket Australia to allow for the Hobart Hurricanes player’s return.

Smith found herself in hot water earlier this month for the Instagram image, which came an hour before the official release time of the side.
