Kate jokes after singer’s palace theft

The 37-year-old took to Twitter with a hilarious response following pop star Camila Cabello’s confession that she stole a pencil from Kensington Palace, the home of Kate and Prince William.

The Havana singer, 22, admitted to DJ Greg James that she swiped the item after he “triple dared” her to take something when they were there attending the Teen Hero Awards last month.

“Last time I saw you we were at the Palace,” James said to Cabello.

“Don’t tell anyone what my mother and I did,” she replied.

“I haven’t mentioned this story at all because you told me not to,” James promised, before going on to tell the story.

“We’re in Kensington Palace for the Teen Hero Awards. We were about to meet William and Kate, and I said ‘you’ve got to steal something, steal that pencil’,” he said.

Cabello said “you triple doggy dare me?”

James admits that he did.

“You can’t not do a triple doggy dare. If there’s anything I’ve learnt in my life it’s that, so I did it,” Cabello said.

The interview was posted to the Radio One Twitter account, with a tweet saying: “I am sorry William and I am sorry Kate @KensingtonRoyal – @GregJames may have got @Camila_Cabello into a bit of trouble at the Palace.”

Kate and William however saw the funny side of Cabello stealing from their official residence, tweeting the eyes emoji in response – suggesting that they were now keeping a close watch on Cabello.

As for DJ Greg James however the royal couple have been less than impressed with him of late.

Last week, James told the story on air of how he was invited to Kensington Palace and given a royal telling off after he mocked Princess Charlotte on her first day of school.

James, 33, said the couple were unhappy about how he teased their daughter for shaking hands with her teacher at Thomas’s school in Battersea South London on September 5.

“They were listening on the morning Charlotte went to school,” he said. “I saw the photo during the show and said, “Who the hell shakes hands with their teacher on the first day?”’

James says weeks later he was invited to Kensington Palace.

“They said: ‘We were listening on the morning of little Charlotte’s first day, and we want to talk to you about the handshaking thing …’” he said. “I went: ‘Oh God, no!’ They’d heard me saying this school was so posh they had to shake hands with their teacher every day.

Following the latest news, James thanked Cabello for “deflecting the Charlotte handshake news story”.
