Melbourne Boomers made their final quarter of basketball this WNBL round one of their best to score a comfortable win over Bendigo Spirit on Sunday.
The Boomers arrived in Bendigo having beaten Adelaide Lightning in Adelaide on Friday night, and held a slender three-point lead heading into Sunday’s last quarter.
But that was when the Boomers hit their straps, forcing the home side into repeated turnovers and converting those errors into baskets to ride a 24-11 last term to a 75-59 win.
The Boomers, who have won all four road games so far this season, saw their starting five do most of the damage. Lindsay Allen was again superb with 17 points and four assists, while Cayla George had 10 points, six rebounds and six assists.
