Brisbane Heat strike down Sydney Thunder in convincing WBBL display

Out-of-form captain Rachael Haynes, Alex Blackwell and Phoebe Litchfield were also unable to build momentum as the asking rate spiralled out of control.

Earlier, Laura Harris smacked an aggressive 30 and Kiwi teenager Amelia Kerr slugged an important enterprising 21no to ensure the Heat posted a defendable total.

Beth Mooney, the tournament’s leading run-scorer, saw wickets fall regularly at the other end and though her 22 was her lowest score of the summer, her doggedness prevented the Thunder attack from tightening the screws.

Imports Nida Dar (2-15) and Shabnam Ismail (2-24) led the Thunder attack, which was again let down by the batting unit before they suffered a fourth consecutive loss.
