Aaron Sandilands supports rucks as new Fremantle Dockers coach Justin Longmuir tinkers with coaching set-up

Retired Dockers ruckman Aaron Sandilands has been called upon to help emerging Dockers ruckmen Sean Darcy and Lloyd Meek as new coach Justin Longmuir tinkers with his support team ahead of his first season as a senior coach.

Sandilands is expected to be in one day a week as he transitions from playing footy while the Dockers also announced on Wednesday that West Coast premiership forward Mark LeCras had been appointed as a part-time specialist forwards coach to finetune their skills in front of goal.

Fremantle’s inability to finish was costly at times in 2019 with the club famously kicking 2.19 against the Eagles in the round 16 derby, losing the match by 91 points after recording 10 more inside 50s than their opposition.

Longmuir has been limited in the changes he has been able to make having been appointed coach after the AFL grand final, with Fremantle extending the contracts of several assistants including Simon Eastaugh, Michael Prior and Roger Hayden into 2020 while Anthony Rock and David Hale had existing contracts.
