Emergency crews rushed to the Breakers North building in Surfers Paradise about 12.30am where they found the deceased 22-year-old.
It’s believed the man, a local, had plunged from a 15th floor unit.
According to the Gold Coast Bulletin, police are investigating whether he was skylarking at the time.
Two ambulance crews attended the Old Burleigh Road complex but the man could not be saved.
The incident has been deemed non-suspicious and Queensland Police will now prepare a report for the coroner.
The man’s family have been notified, a police spokeswoman said.
The tragedy comes just days from the start of the annual Schoolies Week festivities, where hordes of teenagers descend on the glitter strip.
There have been a number of accidents related to falls over the past several years, most recently during the 2018 celebrations.
Last year, Sydney school-leaver Hamish Bigwood died after falling from a balcony of the Surf Regency apartments.
Two years earlier, a young man was lucky to survive a seven-storey fall from a Trilogy apartments balcony.
