“Kuta police accepted the request to revoke the police file. Therefore, David have no criminal record on his name.
“He is surely happy (about the release).”
Rifan said Fifita was cleared as he claimed he never tried to intentionally hit security guard Dani Irawan, who accepted that version of events before signing the peace agreement that triggered Fifita’s release.
“David never intended to hit anyone. Therefore, no intention, hence the security guard agree to accept the forgive,” Rifan said.
Fifita and Walsh were set to board a flight bound for Brisbane on Monday night.
They were due to leave Bali on Monday afternoon but were delayed by processing complications in the jail.
“I would just like to thank everyone involved,” Fifita said before being released from jail.
“Especially the police and my club.
“I’ll make a further statement later on in the week.”
Broncos CEO Paul White is expected to front the media to discuss the Fifita saga on Tuesday.
Fifita may be free from jail but he will still be forced to front the NRL integrity unit when he arrives in Brisbane.
The integrity unit is expected to ask Fifita to meet in the next week.
Whether he will be punished in similar fashion to Nelson Asofa-Solomona remains to be seen.
Asofa-Solomona received a three game punishment – though none of those were NRL matches – after stunning vision captured the star Melbourne and Kiwis prop throwing punches outside the same Bali nightclub where Fifita struck Dani.
Asofa-Solomona argued he was defending teammate Suliasi Vunivalu – who was allegedly attacked inside the nightclub – but the integrity unit still banned him for three matches.
It found that Asofa-Solomona was not acting in self defence but there was some element of provocation involved, hence the decision to only suspend him for three Kiwis Tests.
Fifita is yet to tell his side of the story but neither his lawyer nor the Broncos have made any claim that he was acting in either self-defence or that he was provoked.
Dani alleges Fifita hit him unprovoked before trying to strike him again while on the back of a motorcycle taxi.
“David might have intentionally hit me, I was surprised,” he said.
“I looked at him, after I saw him, he stopped. I stayed away to avoid a fight. That’s it.”
CCTV vision uncovered by Nine appears to show Fifita reaching out to try and clip Dani while travelling on the back of an ojek.
If the integrity unit decide Fifita brought the game into disrepute, the star forward could be hit with a suspension and therefore be made unavailable for the start of the Broncos’ 2020 season.
