Tulloch eyes piece of Hot Danish after flaky Melbourne preparation

“In the past we would have had to pull up stumps and miss the spring with her, but we have been able to find a good race for her this year. It is great to have those options now.”

Vinicunca’s only win came in the  Maribyrnong Plate at this time last year, but her career has been limited to four starts. She was a narrow runner-up in the Blue Diamond Prelude before finishing midfield in the Blue Diamond.

The way she is working, she is going to give them something to chase with the pull in the weights.

Adrian Bott

Bott believed she was on track for the Guineas when she won a Randwick trial in September, but things didn’t go to plan in Melbourne. Her only run down south was a fourth in the Alinghi Stakes on Caulfield Cup day when,  in a snapshot of the preparation, nothing went right from the gates.

“She missed the start at Caulfield and was further back than we thought. She then didn’t have much luck in the straight. It was a race we thought she would have won,” Bott said. “Things just haven’t fallen her way.  Just little things have worked against her, but she is ready to show her talent now.

“We decided that a group 2 at 1400m in Sydney was the best option. The way she is working, she is going to give them something to chase with the pull in the weights.

“She has natural speed and a good gate, which is a good start in any race.”

Vinicunca will joined by Dynamic Syndications mare Ready To Prophet in carrying the Tulloch Lodge polish into the Hot Danish. Both are being kept safe around the $8.50 mark in an open betting race, where Reelem In Ruby is the $4.80 Beteasy favourite.

“Ready To Prophet is a mare that gets better with racing and she was very brave the other day,” Bott said of her  third  in The Nivison behind Madam Rouge and Reelem In Ruby.

“The 1400m is probably just about her best trip, and we think she can press front and led. She races best like that and if she gets a couple of easy sections, she will have a  good kick.”
