The form for Pretty In Pink heading into the Hot Danish Stakes is deceiving with her latest appearance struck from the record.
The Sebring mare, prepared by John O’Shea, had run last in the Sheraco Stakes and only beat one home in the Golden Pendant in slowly-run affairs where she got back and never got a chance to get into the races.
She had a short break and then was the victim of bad luck beyond her control when she was declared a non-runner in The Nivison because of a malfunction with the barriers. She was only a couple of lengths from Madam Rouge, Reelem In Ruby and Ready To Prophet giving them all weight after the gate swung back in her face forcing stewards to withdraw her.
“The gate just came back in her face, which meant she was slow away and probably ended up in the wrong spot in the race,” O’Shea said. “She ran very bravely considering what happened and I think she is as good as any of these mares. She’s a good mare, we just need some luck with her and we are due some.”
