Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Danny O’Brien claims Kennedy Oaks with Miami Bound win

Trainer Danny O’Brien pulled off the Melbourne Cup and the Kennedy Oaks double when Miami Bound proved far too good for her rivals in the 2500-metre group 1 classic under Damien Oliver, who won the Oaks for the fifth time.

Oliver was also bringing up a momentous double of his own, having taken out the group 1 Victoria Derby on Warned on Saturday, Miami Bound having given him is 119th group 1 winner.

O’Brien scored in the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday with Vow and Declare, and in Miami Bound he has also found a really promising young stayer.

Miami Bound’s mother, Arapaho Miss, won the Oaks, while her sire, Reliable Man, won the French Derby, so she was certainly bred for the job.
