Ironically, Elkin had only just shifted to the Eels at the time of his suspension. He is one of several changes to the Parramatta brains trust, with Ryan Carr, the former coach of English club Featherstone, coming onto Brad Arthur’s coaching staff.
Earlier this week, former Cronulla captain Paul Gallen said he will never get closure after he and nine of his former Sharks teammates accepted backdated 12-month doping bans from ASADA in the final weeks of the 2014 season.
“It will never be closure, ever,” Gallen said. “It was the hardest time ever. What I saw players go through … it was extremely lucky no one harmed themselves. Extremely lucky. It was a terrible time for everyone.
“There will always be people out there who will call me a drug cheat. I cop that. I can’t change it.”
