Former Home And Away star Ritchie, 41, shared a heartbreaking post on Instagram about the tragedy, weeks after she took out an AVO against her husband, former NRL player Stuart Webb.
“You were so patient. Trying to tell us for a while now it was time for you to go and today you did,” Ritchie wrote alongside a picture of Mac.
“Thank you Mac for the joy you delivered, the love we all exchanged and for those kind, knowing eyes. For having the softest ears and being the best lawn pillow anyone could ask for.
The post continued: “Thank you too for being so brave this past year and for accepting ageing far better than the rest of us.”
She added: “Mostly Mac, thank you for being one of the first to teach Mae the art and beauty of friendship.
“It was wonderful to watch. Enjoy the peace Maccy Moo. You’ve earned it”.
Last month, police applied for an apprehended violence order (AVO) on behalf of Nova radio co-host Ritchie against her husband, former NRL player Stuart Webb.
The order was granted in the wake of an incident at a Randwick residence. “Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command are investigating an incident at a home in Randwick on Thursday, October 17,” a NSW Police spokesman said last month.
“As inquiries continue, no further information is available.”
