Essendon’s forward line will have a different complexion in 2020 regardless of Joe Daniher’s fitness after the Bombers delisted forward Mitch Brown.
In a somewhat surprising move, the 29-year-old who crossed from Geelong to the Bombers at the end of 2015 was the seventh player cut by the Bombers on Wednesday.
Brown averaged more than one goal per game in his 55 matches for Essendon and booted 18 and 21 goals respectively in the past two seasons.
Essendon’s general manager of football Dan Richardson said Brown would not be offered a contract ahead of Thursday’s first list lodgement deadline and thanked him for his time at Essendon.
“On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Mitch for his service throughout his four years at Essendon,” said Richardson.
The Bombers have already delisted Ben McNiece, Jordan Houlahan, Trent Mynott, Jake Long, Tom Jok and Zac Clarke while David Myers, Matt Dea and Mark Baguley have retired.
