Sydney Roosters captain Jake Friend facing more surgery on troublesome arm

Sydney Roosters captain Jake Friend will undergo surgery on Tuesday after scans confirmed he fractured his right forearm during Saturday’s NRL win over Newcastle.

The hooker injured his arm around a screw that was inserted 12 weeks ago to fix a torn bicep in the same limb.

The incident occurred early in the premiers’ 48-10 win over the Knights in just Friend’s second game back from his long-term layoff.

Friend will have a plate inserted in his arm and is set to miss up to eight weeks, meaning he may not play again until the finals.
