Pressure is mounting on the SCG Trust not to introduce a drop-in wicket with Cricket Australia saying a change was not in the interests of the game in this country.
The Trust has set up a committee to discuss whether to part with over a century of tradition and abandon its cricket wicket at the request of the AFL.
CA chief Kevin Roberts said the governing body “unconditionally supports” Cricket NSW’s fight against the change.
“The SCG is arguably the most unique pitch in world cricket. For more than a century, the SCG wicket square and its Bulli soil have hosted some of world cricket’s greatest contests and served as a nursery for many of the country’s best spin bowlers,” Roberts said.
