Relatives told TMZ that Wright passed away in his Hermosa Beach, California, home just outside of Los Angeles.
The New York Post reports that he was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1995 but had been in remission for a long time, the outlet reported.
The TV star portrayed dad Willie Tanner on the sitcom about a friendly alien named ALF who crash-lands into the garage of a suburban middle-class family.
It ran for four seasons between 1986 and 1990.
He was also known for acting in shows like Cheers, Friends, Buffalo Bill and Norm.
His ALF co-star Michu Meszaros, who played the title character on the show, died in 2016 after suffering complications from a stroke.
Wright is survived by two children, Daisy and Ben.
His wife, Linda Ybarrondo, passed away in 2017 from breast cancer.
