Greg Alexander was in the nation’s capital commentating on the game and was far from impressed with Fifita.
“It’s not an accident, you could see it was measured and there was a bit of intent there. It’s dangerous,” Alexander said.
Fifita is a passionate Tongan who will take on New Zealand at a packed Mt Smart Stadium next weekend.
The powerhouse Shark and Jason Taumalolo committed to Tonga on the eve of the 2017 World Cup, which prompted several other high-profile players to follow suit – and arguably changed the international league landscape.
The tiny Pacific nation made it all the way to the semi-finals at the Cup before they were knocked out in heart-breaking circumstances against England.
Tonga also played in front of a sea of red late last season in the first-ever Test against Australia.
Fifita is looking at a possible two matches with an early plea, which would also include the Sharks’ clash against Canterbury the following week.
