Police allege the woman, 25, met the man in his 30s at a pub in the affluent suburb of Woollahra in Sydney’s inner east, about 10.30pm on January 19. They then went to another pub in nearby Paddington, before getting into a taxi together and heading to her home in Erskineville, in the inner west.
The woman alleged she was sexually assaulted by the man during the night, according to a statement from NSW Police
The following day she went to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and reported the incident.
Police have released CCTV video and stills in the hopes that a member of the public may be able to help identifying the man.
He is described as being of caucasian appearance, with an average build, about 175cm tall and was wearing beige shorts, a dark blue long-sleeved collared shirt and sneakers.
