Buckley’s regret over Malthouse coverage

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley regrets the way his comments about his predecessor Mick Malthouse have dominated the headlines in the wake of Malthouse’s induction into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.

While speaking on SEN the morning after Malthouse was inducted, Buckley said Malthouse was a master manipulator who viewed him as the enemy.

Buckley took over the coaching reins from Malthouse in 2012 as part of a controversial handover orchestrated by president Eddie McGuire.

Buckley reiterated that his comments on Wednesday came from a place of admiration for how Malthouse went about things in his own way throughout his footy career both as a player and coach.
