The memorial will be held at the Sydney Opera House on Friday, June 14 and those wishing to attend will be able to get tickets from the Opera House website at midday today.
Tickets are free but you’ll have to get in quick if you want to secure one as they are expected to be in high demand.
In order to ensure the tickets are fairly distributed, there is a maximum of four per person.
Those with tickets will need to arrive at the venue by 10am to be seated by 10.45am.
If you miss out on a ticket but still want to go and honour the former prime minister, there will be an outdoor screening of the service in the Opera House forecourt.
It will also be televised on the ABC from 11.30am.
The memorial is expected to run for approximately 1.5 hours.
On Friday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the iconic location was a “fitting” venue for Mr Hawke’s memorial.
“Bob was a political giant and a national icon — it is fitting that a public celebration of his life will be held at such an iconic and beloved Australian venue,” Mr Morrison said.
“Bob was a man who understood Australia and the people who call our country home.
“I am pleased Australians will have the chance to say farewell.”
The country’s 23rd prime minister and third-longest serving leader, died peacefully in his sleep last week, and Australians mourned the loss of the beer-loving larrikin who led Labor to four consecutive election victories.
