According to law enforcement, at about 6.15pm on Friday night police dealt with a traffic incident in Smithwick Street. The two men, a motorist and cyclist, were involved in a verbal argument.

The driver left the scene only to return a short time later with a gun. At least two shots were fired towards the house the rider was occupying.

The motorist then fled on foot but returned in a vehicle. He fired another two shots at the house before driving away. Returning for a third time, police believe that he fired one last shot at the residence.

The rider and only occupant of the house, a 40-year-old man, was not injured.

Officers attended and located a vehicle believed to have been involved in the traffic incident.

Two crime scenes have been established as detectives continue to identify the shooter.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incidents or has any dashcam footage is urged to contact Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
