North Melbourne coach Brad Scott is set to depart the Kangaroos with the club and Scott understood to have mutually agreed his time as coach is up.
The 43-year-old, who began as senior coach in 2010, is contracted until the end of 2020 but sources confirmed the departure at some point this season would be amicable with both sides in open dialogue about what was best for the club.
Scott, who enters Saturday’s match against the Western Bulldogs with a 50 per cent winning record, had said earlier in the day that external speculation about his coaching future did not worry him.
“The only thing I’ll say about that is I’ve said for my entire tenure here at North Melbourne that my focus is on what’s best for our club – and that hasn’t changed,” Scott said.
“It’s certainly at the forefront of my mind right at the moment that we need to do what’s best for North Melbourne, and what’s best for North right at the moment is the next 24 hours and the Bulldogs.
