Geelong champion Gary Ablett is set to attract match review attention for the second week running after committing a near-identical offence to last weekend’s hit on Essendon’s Dylan Shiel.
Ablett appeared to elbow North Melbourne’s Sam Wright high early in the second quarter of the Cats’ clash with the Kangaroos at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.
Wright received a free kick but played on.
Ablett has never been suspended in his 329-game career, but copped a one-match ban for his hit on Shiel last week, with the incident graded as intentional, high contact and low impact by match review officer Michael Christian.
However Ablett successfully fought the suspension at the tribunal, having the charge downgraded to careless conduct.
Ablett was yet again being booed by opposition fans, but started the game well as the Cats built a 19-point half-time lead.
