Carlton have dumped two talls from the team that lost to Gold Coast last week as they included ruckman Matthew Kreuzer for his first game since 2018 and named Jack Silvagni for the first time in 2019 as they aim for a breakthrough win against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday.
Tall forward Levi Casboult and ruckman Matthew Lobbe were dropped while Will Setterfield is suspended for two matches with small forward Cameron Polson also coming into the team.
Kreuzer had knee surgery in January and returned via the VFL with the Northern Blues last Sunday.
With pressure increasing on coach Brendon Bolton after their last-minute loss to the Gold Coast in round four, the club is desperate to defeat the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs retained developing ruckman Tim English and added two first-gamers with Will Hayes and Lachie Young named alongside Bailey Williams, replacing injured former Hawks Taylor Duryea and Matt Suckling with Josh Schache dropped.
Meanwhile, Adelaide midfielder Bryce Gibbs is back for Eddie Betts’ 300th game with Hugh Greenwood and Elliott Himmelberg also included for the match against the Suns. Tall forward Josh Jenkins and youngster Myles Poholke were dropped while exciting youngster Chayce Jones will miss with concussion.
