Chris Mayne heads to hospital post-game to have injured back examined

Collingwood sent midfielder Chris Mayne to hospital post-game after he copped a knee to the back just five minutes into his 200th game.

The 30-year-old wingman was injured when he attempted to regather a loose ball deep in defence after spilling a mark.

He was able to limp from the ground after spending a minute on the ground while play went on around him, but played no further part.

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said the club was uncertain as to the extent of the injury however the Magpies would send Mayne to hospital as a precaution despite early tests at the ground suggesting he was free of major damage.
