The Mechanic Institute in the heart of Goulburn in regional NSW has been sold for $4.8 million. The 1213 sq m commercial site went under the hammer to a local private investor, achieving a sale price well in excess of its written reserve. The site was being offered to the market for the first time since 1993, at which time Goulburn City Council sold it for $657,000. The site, located at 167-173 Auburn Street was fully refurbished in 1994 and was awarded the Goulburn Post award for
contribution to the streetscape upon completion. The site was sold fully leased to a number of long-standing tenants, including NAB, NSW Police and the NSW government. Ryan Cross and Anthony Bray, Cushman and Wakefield managed the sale process on behalf of the long-term owners, alongside auctioneer Damien Cooley from Cooley Auctions.


Formerly known as The Elmowy Lebanese Sweet Shop and formerly a mechanic workshop, the site on 235 sq m of land at 20 and 20a Cooper Street has just sold for $2.8 million to an owner-occupier. Jonathan Betts will join Knight Frank’s NSW Office Leasing business as partner – projects and precincts, working closely with Aaron Weir, partner, head of office leasing, NSW. Mr Betts was previously director of leasing at Property NSW. The newly-formed role will complement the existing NSW and national office leasing team based in the Sydney CBD office.
