Canberra Raiders centre Joey Leilua can avoid ban for Glasby incident

Canberra Raiders centre Joey Leilua is free to play the North Queensland Cowboys if he accepts the early guilty plea for an incident with Newcastle lock Tim Glasby.

Leilua was charged with grade-one dangerous contact, but because he has a clean record a guilty plea will see him get 75 carry over points and he’ll be allowed to play the Cowboys in Townsville on Saturday.

But if he challenges it, he risks a one-game suspension.

The charge came after Glasby tackled Leilua and the Raiders centre swung his arm back and appeared to catch Glasby in the face with his elbow in the 68th minute of the 17-10 win over the Knights at Canberra Stadium on Friday night.
