ACT Policing issued its second Amber Alert ever for Canberra just after 10pm tonight as they frantically work to find the children, last seen in the suburb of Casey being driven away in a silver Mitsubishi Mirage by a man known to them.
The missing children — three girls aged six, four and one, and a three-year-old boy — are believed to be in the company of a 27-year-old man named Takosi (Matthew) Funaki.
Police allege the kids were taken away in the Mitsubish just before 7pm tonight after an incident involving Mr Funaki in the Moncrieff, the next suburb over.
Takosi, who also goes by the name Matthew, is described as Pacific Islander/Maori in appearance, 175cm tall, thin build with black short hair and brown eyes.
In a statement, police said they were seeking to locate Matthew and the children “as there are serious concerns for their wellbeing”.
Anyone who sees the vehicle — with ACT registration YHS93Q — or has any information about his whereabouts is urged to contact ACT Policing on 131 444.
The public is being urged not to approach them.
